The celebration of Ukraine and all things Ukrainian was an instant success with visitors when it opened at noon.

Scheduled attractions included a full concert programme with eight Ukrainian bands, DJ Mariia, and Ihor Grokhotsky - winner of ‘Voice of the Country 2014’ who performed with Okean Elzy - and  Swindon's own local Ukrainian-British rock choir.

There were also to be workshops until 6pm including clay sculpting, bandura playing, coffee painting and motanka dolls.

A popular kids' zone includes workshops and entertainment with bubble shows and face painting.

Bbusinesses were providing food and drink, and a market was set to run all day, together with an exhibition from the Ukrainian Artists' Association.
