Swindon’s amateur dramatic group, The Western Players, will be performing their new play, ‘Flare Path’ at the Arts Centre this March.
Flare Path, a play by Terence Rattigan, was written in 1941 and first staged in 1942.
Set in a hotel near an RAF Bomber Command airbase during the Second World War, Flare path involves a love triangle between a pilot, his actress wife and a famous film star.
Going to the hotel to break with Teddy, followed by Peter, Pat encounters Doris, married to a Polish Count, who is one of two pilots not to return from a bombing raid. Hearing the Count's last letter, Pat realizes how much Teddy needs her, who will she choose?
The Western Players originated as ‘The Great Western Railway (Swindon) Mechanics Institute Amateur Theatrical Society’ in the early 1900's. The group celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2004.
Flare Path will be performed at the Arts Centre from Wednesday 12 to Saturday15 March 2025, starting at 7.30pm.
