Swindon's best-known children's authors will join forces to present a day of animal-themed fun, kick-starting the Summer Holidays this month.
International-selling storytellers Steve Antony and Kate Claxton will be leading local families in a day of 'wild and wonderful' activities at Hocus Pocus Play in Fairford.
The fun-day will be taking place throughout the family-run interactive play centre and gardens on Wednesday, 27 July, from 10am - 3pm.
Author, illustrator and Swindon Libraries patron Steve Antony will be reading from his world-famous Mr Panda series, and teaching budding artists how to recreate his critter with a draw-along.
Kate Claxton will share her award-winning picture book My Mum's a Tiger, before leading mini-makers in an animal mask making craft that will embrace her book's theme of spot and stripes.
Aimed at primary school ages and below, the Wild & Wonderful fun day will also entertain young explorers with a ‘digging for dinosaurs’ activity, animal print biscuit decorating, a scavenger hunt and full-day access to the Hocus Pocus interactive play centre.
Treats and themed ice cream sundaes will also be available to purchase from the onsite cafe.
Hocus Pocus Play owner Kitty Welch said: "We can't wait to turn the play centre wild for one day. We're hugely influenced by storytelling in the design of our play centre and as a family of readers we're thrilled to be able to welcome Steve and Kate to share their wonderful stories with our visitors.
"Our play centre is known for encouraging imagination and interaction in young minds, we think that author visits and themed activities are the perfect extension of this!"
Tickets for the Wild & Wonderful storytelling event can be booked at hocuspocusplay.co.uk now.
