Coming up over the next month: Octoberfest on Saturday 19 October sees a big cat face off as the Swindon Wildcats play the Telford Tigers.

The Halloween Hockey match on Sunday 27 October, is between the Swindon Wildcats and the Bristol Pittbulls.

The Swindon Wildcats fought hard last weekend, but narrowly lost 3-1 to the Sheffield Steeldogs.

The Cats were without Tomasz Malasinski and Aaron Nell, but still fought well against a much improved Steeldogs team.

The Steeldogs started on the front foot and scored with the game's first shot. Fin Ulrick received a perfect pass and fired it low past Renny Marr just forty seconds into the game.

The Cats responded well to the early goal and created offense with the new lines made this week. Josh Shaw and Dylan Lipsey were buzzing around causing the Steeldogs problems but Steeldogs goalie Ben Norton stood strong.

The Dogs then doubled their lead on the break with Walker Sommer finding space and firing across the goal and into the back of the net to make it two, timed at 15:55.

The Cats didn't let their heads drop and after some good battling and patience from Josh Shaw, he found Sam Godfrey at the back post who tapped the puck into the empty cage at 16:41.

The score at the end of the first period was: Wildcats 1-2 Steeldogs

The second period would be a dominant period for the Cats, creating many chances and putting the Dogs under much pressure. Balint Pakozdi's had his first-time effort cannon back off the post. Ben Norton then robbed Josh Shaw with an unbelievable diving stop.

After all of the Wildcats pressure, it would be the Dogs who scored the next goal. Sommer broke away again and slotted the puck past Marr to give them their two-goal lead back.

The tension started to rise and after a big hit on Ryan Wells, Jake Bricknell stood up for his fellow Canadian teammate and dropped the gloves with Samual Tremblay. This fight fired up the crowd and the players on both teams.

The score at the end of the second period: Wildcats 1-3 Steeldogs

Just like the second period, this would be another dominant period for the Cats who made chances but just couldn't find the back of the net. Norton was the hero for the Steeldogs on the night.

The Cats pulled the goalie for the extra skater and hit the cross-bar for the third time in the game to keep the score 3-1. It wasn't meant to be for the Cats on Saturday with Norton making 36/37 saves on the night and helping the Steeldogs to two points.

End of the game: Wildcats 1-3 Steeldogs

The Man of The Match was #77 Josh Shaw.
