Children and staff dressed up for a carnival at Greendown Playgroup in the Youth Centre at Greendown School. The group which started the previous October was visited by Princess Anne when she officially opened the school in April 1987.
It later moved to its own self-contained building on the school site in Grange Park where it continues to provide important pre-school places.
