Over 50 women from North Swindon have joined a new community group for women, known as the ‘Ladies of Tadpole’, at Crest Nicholson’s Tadpole Garden Village. Organised by local resident Ann Fitzgerald, the monthly meeting is proving to be extremely popular with local women of all ages, with members aged from 18 to 85.
The ‘Ladies of Tadpole’ group gives women who live at Tadpole Garden Village and in the wider North Swindon area an opportunity to learn new skills, take part in activities and form new friendships. The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 7-9pm at Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy.
The ‘Ladies of Tadpole’ group’s inaugural meeting featured a performance and a lesson from a professional belly dancer, accompanied by tea, coffee and cake. At the group’s latest meeting, the Ladies of Tadpole were joined by the local Air Ambulance for a discussion about the charity’s work in Wiltshire.
Upcoming meetings will include a performance by a local band and a quiz night. A series of daytime trips and events has also been planned, with the first event taking place in August for an old-fashioned picnic at Tadpole Garden Village.
Ann Fitzgerald, Founder of Ladies of Tadpole, said: “I had been involved in women’s groups before moving to Tadpole Garden Village and saw this as a great opportunity for new residents to meet each other and strengthen our community spirit. Through ‘Ladies of Tadpole’ we hope to establish a thriving group of women who are actively involved in their local community and it has been heartening to see new friendships already forming. We have many exciting events coming up and I warmly encourage anyone who is interested in joining to simply drop in at our next meeting.”

With the Book Club, Wheelers Club for cycling, the Allotment Association and now the Ladies of Tadpole, there are so many opportunities for residents to get involved in fun activities and enjoy the many community spaces we have delivered at Tadpole Garden Village.”
Tadpole Garden Village will comprise 1,855 homes on completion, as well as a pub, shops and other community amenities including the recently launched community play park, Town Park.
The next meeting of the ‘Ladies of Tadpole’ will take place on Wednesday 6th June at Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy from 7-9pm, and on the first Wednesday of every month thereafter. Anyone who is interested in joining the Ladies of Tadpole is invited to drop in to the meeting.
