Road users on the M4 and A419, as well as those around Swindon, may experience some additional delays tomorrow morning - Saturday 11 July. This follows a similar convoy that came to Swindon this morning.
An abnormal load is due to depart from Membury Services on the M4 at about 9am, leaving at junction 15 and then onto the A419 travelling towards Oxford Road and Greenbridge via the White Hart roundabout. The final destination for the load, which is two gantry cranes, will be BMW Pressings on Swindon Road.
The convoy will consist of two loads, each of 41 metres in length plus associated private and police escort vehicles.
A further abnormal load - a panel press - will then leave Membury Services, this time exiting via Commonhead Roundabout before travelling along Queens Drive and Drakes Way. The final destination for this load will also be BMW Pressings on Swindon Road.
This convoy will consist of one load, approximately 4.3 metres in width along with associated private and police escort vehicles.
All loads will be slow moving and have the potential to cause congestion throughout the route. Around Swindon, oncoming traffic will be required to pull in and wait for the convoy to pass.
Wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum although both hauliers and motorists are asked to be patient should they come across this move.
Anyone travelling over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time for their journey.
Police escorting resources are being provided by our officers and paid for by the haulier at no cost to the public.
