Swindon Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary at a property in Park North.

Officers report that the incident happened at a property in Torrington Court, Park North, at around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon - 18 January - and involved five men forcing their way into the flat and threatening the occupants.

The force say nobody was seriously injured, and the group left in the direction of Banwell Avenue.

Four of the men appeared to be riding bicycles and one was on foot.

So far one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Emma Kinderman, from Swindon CID, said: “This was a frightening incident for the occupants of the property, though thankfully nobody was seriously injured.

“Although our enquiries are still at an early stage, we don’t believe this was a random incident and there is nothing to suggest there is a wider threat to the local community.

“If you have any information at all, please call us and tell us what you know.”

Early this morning, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and is currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Swindon CID on 101, quoting crime reference 54220005987.

Alternatively members of the public can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
