Teenaged girl sexually assaulted in Swindon

Swindon Police are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in the town centre yesterday evening - 8 July.

It happened at around 6.40pm when a man in his 40s approached a 16-year-old girl who was sitting on the benches opposite H&M in The Parade.
He is said to have made lewd comments before touching her neck and her inner thigh.
The man is described as being white with short dark hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, a black & white Adidas tracksuit and black trainers with white soles. A man fitting this description has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station.
A police spokesperson said: "We know he was challenged by members of the public so we're asking anyone who was there and saw what happened to call us on 10, quoting reference 54210066004. Alternatively, they can report anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
