Police officers searching for missing Swindon man James Phillips are asking people to check their sheds and outbuildings.

A force spokesperson said: "James - if you are reading this appeal, we would urge you to please make contact with the police or with a friend or family member to let us know you are safe."

James, 19, was reported missing last Friday - 15 October, and the police believe he left his Blunsdon home some time between midnight on the Thursday and 9am on the Friday.

Since the initial report regarding his disappearance, officers and volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WilSAR) have been carrying out detailed and extensive searches in the Swindon area and surrounding countryside.

Despite this work, James has not been found and officers are concerned about his welfare.

The force wants residents to familiarise themselves with the photograph of James and check all sheds, garages and outbuildings.

James is described as being of mixed heritage, approximately 5ft10ins tall, of slim build and with short black hair. He wears glasses and it is believed that he may be wearing a black suit, a white shirt and black leather shoes.

Officers will continue to be assisted by volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue once again this weekend.
Anyone who knows where James might be should dial 999 and quote log 74 of 15 October.
