Town centre assault witnesses sought

A man was kicked and punched during an attack lasting several minutes in Swindon's town centre.

The police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which happened at about 8.40pm on Sunday, July 5.

The 23-year-old victim was kicked and punched several times during the attack near McDonalds and Argos in Canal Walk. He was not seriously injured.

Two men, aged 38 and 40, have been arrested in connection with the assault and released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

The police believe there may have been two witnesses who tried to intervene.

A spokesperson said: "If you think this may have been you, or if you witnessed the assault take place, we’d really like to hear from you as you may be able to assist with our enquiries."
