Officers are appealing for witnesses and are trying to identify a male they would like to speak to following an attempted robbery in Swindon.

At around 4.30pm on Wednesday 26 January, a male teenager was standing outside an address on Albany Close when an unknown male approached him on a bicycle and demanded he hand over his backpack.

The young victim refused;  the male then produced a knife and stabbed the victim causing minor injuries to his hand and abdomen. A scuffle between the two then took place before the cyclist rode off.

The cyclist is described as white but tanned, 16-19-years-old, quite tall in height and of average build.

He had black or really dark brown hair that was short but wavy on the top and brown eyes.  He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, black gloves, a black hooded top, which he wore up, and a black waterproof jacket - possibly North Face.  It's believed that he was wearing a bandana.

Two images of this male are attached.

Detective Sergeant Justin Downes said:  "We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this incident in broad daylight.

"Something like this is bound to concern people in the local community and although the victim didn't know the person who attacked him, we believe he was targeted.

"If you recognise this male, please contact us on 101 quoting crime reference number 54200009003.  You can also report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
