Stratton St Margaret Parish Council and the Friends of Beechcroft Library are starting a home delivery library service for local residents unable to access the library.
The home library service will be run by volunteers from the local community.
The volunteers will choose up to six books and audio books that meet a recipient's preferences and bring them to their home every three weeks.
This service will be free to anyone who is not able to get to the library and does not have anyone to go for them.
A spokesperson from Stratton Council explains more: "For example, the service can be used by people who are recovering from a long illness or a hospital stay, as well as by people who have a longer term requirement.
"Our volunteers are DBS checked and wear identification badges and we will try and arrange for the same volunteer to visit you each time if possible."
There is no charge for requests or late returns. At each visit members of the public can ask the book service volunteers to bring specific books that they want to read - though there may be a waiting list for more popular titles.
