Wiltshire and Swindon claimed to be among top 10 places for finding buried treasure

New research has dug up good news for treasure hunters in Swindon.

According to Government data analysed by an online gaming and gambling organisation, the town and the rest of Wiltshire are the eighth best place for unearthing buried treasure in the UK.

Swindon and Wiltshire, with a total of 526 finds, were beaten by Norfolk in the top spot, followed by Suffolk, Essex, Lincolnshire, Hampshire, Kent and North Yorkshire.

After Swindon in eighth place, the rest of the top 10 were Dorset and Oxfordshire.

Norfolk had 1,201 recorded finds since 2012, Suffolk 776 and Essex 709.
