Man arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference thanks to police dog

A man is in custody on suspicion of vehicle interference in Swindon after being tracked by a police dog.

Shortly before 3am today - 10 April - officers received a report from Lawns residents who saw a man trying car and van door handles in the area.

Officers attended, including Police Dog Bree and handler, who helped to locate a suspect in an alleyway nearby following an area search.

The man, aged in his 40s and from Swindon, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference. He remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station for further questioning.

A police spokesperson said: "We’d urge residents to ensure all vehicles are left locked overnight and remove all valuables from inside if possible.

"Anyone with doorbell footage or CCTV which could assist our enquiries should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54240040529."
