Two brothers who were arrested during a police operation which saw £14,000 worth of drugs seized have been jailed.
Officers in Swindon carried out what they describe as a lengthy and complex investigation into the activities of Isaiah and Jahred Tafari.
On Monday, 4 October, the brothers appeared at Salisbury Crown Court for sentencing.
Jahred Tafari, 22, currently of HMP Bullingdon, was jailed for 21 months for conspiracy to supply Class B drugs, while Isaiah Tafari, 20, also currently of HMP Bullingdon, was jailed for 19 months for conspiracy to supply Class B drugs and money laundering
Det Con Phil Nash, from Swindon CID, said: “This was a lengthy and complex investigation which pulled together a number of enquiries being carried out into the supply of illegal drugs in Swindon.
“A small team was assembled who worked tirelessly to compile evidence proving that the Tafari brothers were working together to make large amounts of money through the sale of cannabis in the town.
“We know that our communities In Swindon have concerns about the sale of illegal drugs, and the associated exploitation and violence that often comes hand in hand with this type of criminal activity, and I hope this shows that we are taking proactive action to tackle it.”
In May of 2020 two locations were found by police, one in Cricklade and one in Swindon, thanks to intelligence received from the public and proactive policing leading to the pursuit of a vehicle. Both of these locations contained drugs and various items used for preparation and supply in street dealing.
The brothers were arrested at around this time and the police investigation continued over the next nine months, with officers executing a series of warrants to disrupt activity and compile evidence.
Throughout the lengthy investigation, officers seized a total of £20,000 in cash and £14,000 worth of drugs, mainly cannabis.
The police say phone analysis also proved that the brothers were conspiring together in the supply of Class B drugs in the Swindon area.
A force spokesperson said: "We would continue to urge everyone to report suspicious activity to us, so we can build up an intelligence picture and take action. If you are concerned about drug dealing in your area, please either call us on 101, or go to our website to report this."
