A Swindon man has appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court accused of assisting a foreign intelligence service and intending to commit or engage in conduct to prepare an act of sabotage.

Joshua Cammidge, 31, of Galsworthy Close in Liden, made no plea and was remanded in custody.

He is alleged to have carried out research on four Swindon drone manufacturing locations

Cammidge is also alleged to have been in communication with a person thought to have a connection to an organisation under the control of Russia's intelligence services, the GRU Volunteer Corps.

Earlier this month, Cammidge was arrested at an address in Swindon by London police officers, who were supported by colleagues from the Wiltshire Force, and subsequently taken to London.
