Man severely injured in 'mental health incident' and police put cordon at car park

Swindon Police say a man in his 20s has been taken yo hospital with serious injuries following what the force describes as a mental health incident.

Officers set up a cordon at Brunel West Car Park in Farnsby Street, which is expected to be in place for a few hours.
The force has referred itself to Independent Office for Police Conduct in keeping with standard practice when responding to incidents of this nature.
Supt Phil Staynings said: “At around 6am this morning (19/11) we attended an incident relating to a person’s welfare.
“The man is receiving appropriate treatment and care.
“A cordon has been set up and you will notice an increased police presence in the area.”
A Swindon Police spokesperson said: "Please be aware that help is available. If you or someone you know needs specialist support, please contact Samaritans on 116 123 or MIND at https://crowd.in/buOlDw."
