A programme of events for early 2025 has been announced by the campaigners of Swindon Climate Action Network.
The next Highworth Climate Talk is on Tuesday 21 January, when Dr Halid Abu Bakar from the University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership will give a presentation titled Zero Waste: Is a circular economy possible?
On Saturday 22 February at 6.45pm, Eastcott Community Centre in Savernake Street will be the venue for a storytelling show, NEXUS: A Story of Hope in Turbulent Times, in which Carl Gough promises to blend myth, personal and historical narratives.
His stories within stories will lead from rural Wales to the Florida Everglades, where unrelated events connect to reveal the greatest of consequences from the smallest of actions.
Skipping through time, Carl will tell vivid true-life stories that saved the truly unique ecosystem of the Everglades from total destruction.
The climate action network had a stall at the recent Swindon Repair Cafe at Eastcott Community Centre, and a spokesperson said it was good to meet people and see the bike repair and clothes repair stalls very well received.
The spokesperson added in a message to members and the public: "It would be lovely if more repair cafes were organised across Swindon. Come and join us next time in Eastcott on Sunday 5th March, which will also have a seed swap focus so great to hear from anyone who has ideas for displays and interactive engagement."
Tickets are priced at £7.59.
