A partial closure order has been granted at an address in Wroughton following concerns regarding drug dealing in the area.

Officers from Swindon Police's Fortitude team, who are tasked with dealing with serious and prolific offenders, attended an address in Wroughton last week, after reports of suspicious behaviour between two men near to the property.

One of the men was linked to the address and was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drug and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The closure order was granted at Swindon Magistrates Court last week, which means nobody other than the registered occupants and those named on the order can enter the address for a period of three months. Anyone found attending the property is liable to immediate arrest.

The order is in place to prevent anti-social behaviour at the address and to safeguard the residents.

Det Insp Sarah Champion, from the Fortitude Team, said: “Our team takes drug dealing very seriously and will do all we can to protect the community.

“Hopefully this closure order will bring some much needed respite to the residents in Wroughton who are often affected by the anti social behaviour and ongoing issues associated with the address. Officers will continue to patrol the area to ensure the order is being adhered to.

“If you have any concerns that someone you know is being cuckooed or an address is being used for criminal activity then please report this to the police. We use this community intelligence as a key tool in targeting drug dealers, ensuring they are arrested and drugs seized, tackling anti-social behaviour and safeguarding the vulnerable.”
