GWH reports first coronavirus death in over three weeks as UK case numbers near 5,000

The latest report from NHS England has revealed that there has been one further death reported at Great Western Hospital from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. It has been 23 days since the last death was reported at GWH. According to the report the death occurred on Thursday 17 September. This means the coronavirus death toll at Great Western Hospital since the outbreak has risen to 129. These figures are correct up to 4pm yesterday.

As of 4pm today there has been seven new confirmed coronavirus cases reported in the last 24 hours in Swindon, meaning the total has risen to 1,349 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. In the last seven days there have been 24 new confirmed cases in Swindon. In Wiltshire there have been ten new cases in the past 24 hours, meaning the number of people who have tested positive in Wiltshire is 1,577. This means that in the last seven days there have been 55 new confirmed cases in Wiltshire. These figures are split by local authority. Please note that these new cases are the figures reported by Public Health England and do not take into account delays in the return of positive test results.

As of 9am on 22 September, 403,551 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK. This is a rise of 4,926 positive tests in the last 24 hours.

As of 5pm on 21 September, of those tested positive for coronavirus in the UK who died within 28 days of their test, 41,825 have died across all settings. This is an increase of 37.
