A tree of remembrance for those lost in the covid pandemic has been dedicated in Swindon's town centre.

The dedication is the work of inSwindon BID Company, the organisation tasked with helping the town centre and businesses based there.

Executive director Anita Bellinger said in a message to the public: “We wanted to give you a place to remember and honour the passing of your loved ones, lost during the covid-19 pandemic. So inSwindon BID Company has dedicated a Tree of Remembrance for the Swindon community, in Wharf Green, Swindon Town Centre.

"The tree is a lasting symbol of life, a place to reflect, remember and celebrate the lives of those we have lost and may not have been able to say a proper goodbye to. It is swathed in warm white lights, that twinkle against the night sky, and surrounded by wooden benches, with plenty of space to safely dwell and reminisce.

"inSwindon BID would like to send a special message of condolence to all those who have borne the pain of loss, especially in our community, and we hope the memory tree provides a little comfort."
