The latest report from NHS England has revealed that three further deaths from covid have been reported at Great Western Hospital. According to the data, two of the deaths occurred on 16 January and the third on 17 January. It has been four days since the last such deaths were reported. This means the coronavirus death toll at Great Western Hospital since the start of the outbreak has risen to 414. These figures are correct up to 4pm on 17 January.
According to the data released today at 4pm, there were 352 new confirmed coronavirus cases reported in the previous 24 hours in Swindon, meaning the total rose to 48,369 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. In the previous seven days there were 2,638 new confirmed cases in Swindon. In Wiltshire there had been 624 new cases in the previous 24 hours, meaning the number of people who had tested positive in Wiltshire was 93,121. This meant that in the previous seven days there had been been 4,060 new confirmed cases in Wiltshire.
As of 9am on 18 January, 15,399,300 people had tested positive for coronavirus in the UK. This was a rise of 94,432 positive tests in the past 24 hours.
As of 5pm on 17 January, of those tested positive for coronavirus in the UK who died within 28 days of their test, 152,513 had died across all settings. This was an increase of 438.
