October 16 and 17 weekend update: Total of 799 new Swindon covid cases

As of 14 May, local details of covid deaths and related data are published every weekday rather than every day. The next update regarding Great Western Hospital will therefore appear later today, Monday, 18 October, and its official total remains at 357.

According to the data released on Saturday, 16 October, there were 330 new confirmed coronavirus cases reported in the previous 24 hours in Swindon, meaning the total rose to 24,233 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. In the previous seven days there were 1,194 new confirmed cases in Swindon. In Wiltshire there had been 628 new cases in the previous 24 hours, meaning the number of people who had tested positive in Wiltshire was 44,247. This meant that in the previous seven days there had been been 3,186 new confirmed cases in Wiltshire. 
 
According to the data released on Sunday, 17 October, there were 469 new confirmed coronavirus cases reported in the previous 24 hours in Swindon, meaning the total rose to 24,702 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. In the previous seven days there were 1,580 new confirmed cases in Swindon. In Wiltshire there had been 772 new cases in the previous 24 hours, meaning the number of people who had tested positive in Wiltshire was 45,019. This meant that in the previous seven days there had been been 3,695 new confirmed cases in Wiltshire. 
 
 
All figures are split by local authority. Please note that new cases are the figures reported by Public Health England and do not take into account delays in the return of positive test results.
 

As of 9am on 16 October, 8,404,469 people had tested positive for coronavirus in the UK. This was a rise of 43,423 positive tests in the past 24 hours.

As of 9am on 17 October, 8,449,165 people had tested positive for coronavirus in the UK. This was a rise of 45,140 positive tests in the past 24 hours.

As of 5pm on 15 October, of those tested positive for coronavirus in the UK who died within 28 days of their test, 138,527 had died across all settings. This was an increase of 148.

As of 5pm on 16 October, of those tested positive for coronavirus in the UK who died within 28 days of their test, 138,584 had died across all settings. This was an increase of 57.
