Over the weekend, officers working under Operation Staysail and Gloucestershire Police prevented a disruptive car meet in Swindon.

The force said on Sunday 14 August, it used 11 road closures and dispersal powers to ensure that those intent on causing distress to local residents and danger to other road users were unable to do so.

Sgt Joel Coombes said: “Op Staysail is not focused on car enthusiasts meeting peacefully and lawfully, but we will not tolerate disruptive car meets which cause serious distress and danger.

"We will use all powers available to us to proactively disrupt these and prosecute offenders.”
