A man has been disqualified from the roads for three-and-a-half years after crashing his car while drink driving.

Aaron Watkins, 31, of Pellau Road, Port Talbot, was involved in a single vehicle collision on the M4 eastbound near junction 16 for Royal Wootton Bassett on August 13, when the vehicle he was driving rolled onto its side.

He escaped serious injury but was charged with drink driving after a breath test.

Watkins pleaded guilty during a court hearing, and in addition to his driving ban was fined £100 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £40.

A police spokesperson said: "Drink driving is one of the fatal five offences, all of which increase the risk of you being involved in a serious or fatal collision.

"For the past month, Wiltshire Police has been running a Road Safety Campaign focusing on enforcement and raising awareness of the fatal five offences: speeding, drink and drug driving, using a phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt, and careless or dangerous driving.

"If you suspect somebody of drink driving, please call 101 or 999 in an emergency and give as much information as possible including a description of the driver, vehicle and direction of travel."
