A driver from Sherston has been disqualified from the roads after he was caught drink driving.
Paul Adams, 49, of Tetbury Road, Sherston, was stopped on the April 15 by officers concerned about his manner of driving. He was seen to clip kerbs in residential areas of Oakhurst, Swindon, and was seen driving at excess speed in the area.
A roadside breath test was conducted which showed he was twice the drink drive limit and he was arrested and later charged.
He appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on August 15 and was given a 19 month driving disqualification and ordered to pay £818 worth of fines and costs.
Roads Policing Lead Investigator T/Det Con Sean Williams, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “Drink driving is one of the fatal five offences most likely to cause serious or fatal collisions on our roads.
“It was clear from the manner of driving witnessed on this occasion that Adams was intoxicated – we will not tolerate this behaviour and will do all we can to root out those who commit this type of crime, posing a risk to other road users and pedestrians.”
