A drink driver has been disqualified from the roads for 25 months.
Damien Stroud, 33, of Outram Road, Oxford, was found guilty of drink driving following a trial at Swindon Magistrates Court.
On 9 April, officers received reports that Stroud was suspected to be driving his Ford Kuga under the influence of alcohol on the Magic Roundabout. They found the car parked in Argyle Street and Stroud was detained nearby.
He gave a roadside breath test which showed he was over the drink drive limit, followed by a further reading in custody, and was subsequently charged but pleaded not guilty to drink driving.
He was found guilty following a trial and given a one year community order and a 25 month driving disqualification. He must also carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and pay a £114 surcharge and £620 in CPS costs.
PC Craig Beales said: “I am pleased that a lengthy disqualification was given to Stroud despite this being a first conviction – it sends a clear message that the courts take offences of this nature seriously.”
