Swindon's election count under way

The count to determine the new shape of Swindon Borough Council has begun.

All ballot papers from yesterday's local have been verified and the count began at 9am.
Seats for a councillor in each ward with the exception of Ridgeway are being contested, and a council spokesperson said the turnout was 33 percent.
The council says it will post results on its social media channels as soon as they become known throughout the day.
Nationally, the results already announced suggest that the drubbing expected for the Conservatives by many political commentators has failed to materialise, although the party has lost a number of key authorities.
Correspondingly, there is so far little evidence of the wholesale gains widely predicted for Labour having come about.
