Firefighters were today called to tackle a blaze at Edwards Yard in Swindon's Ferndale Road.

People living nearby were warned by the police to keep windows closed as smoke rose above the site, a storage facility.

There were no reports of injuries.

A police spokesperson said: "We are currently in attendance at a fire in Edwards Yard, Ferndale Road in Swindon where Wiltshire Police officers are supporting colleagues from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"There are no reported casualties at this time.

"We are asking members of the public to stay away from the area to allow emergency services to attend the scene."

In a subsequent update, the force reported that the fire was out, although residents were cautioned to keep windows closed until the smoke had dissipated.
