Swindon’s Bus Company is throwing its support behind Wiltshire Search and Rescue - with a donation from its latest community fund allocation.

“Wiltshire Search and Rescue volunteers make themselves available 24 hours a day and 365 days a year - supporting Wiltshire Police and other agencies in searches for high risk, vulnerable, missing persons across the county,” said Swindon’s Bus Company general manager, Andrew Sherrington.

“Our team is delighted to donate £500 from our community fund - which is open for applications during June and December each year.

“It’s a pleasure supporting Wiltshire Search and Rescue. As a fully established part of the community, we’re delighted to be able to help this vital local resource.”

Wiltshire Search and Rescue trustee, Bethan Matthews, added: “Wiltshire Search and Rescue is a voluntary organisation, deployed at the request of the emergency services control room. Our primary aim is to locate high-risk, vulnerable, individuals and return them to a place of safety.

“We are self-sufficient, in that we deploy the resources to search but also manage the incident - using our qualified incident managers - and have a wide range of equipment and specialist capabilities, such as water rescue.

“This donation will be put to very good use, and I’d like to thank Swindon’s Bus Company for its generosity."
