'The Great Big Green Week' of activities comes to Stourhead

The National Trust announce Stourhead will host a range of activities for this year's 'The Great Big Green Week.'

The Great Big Green Week runs from Saturday, 24 September - Sunday, 2 October this year, and aims to raise awareness of climate change, and bring people closer to nature. 

The Great Big Green Week at Stourhead event calendar is as follows: 

Autumn Mask Crafting 

Saturday 24 September – Sunday 2 October, 9.30am – 4pm 

Pick up a free mask-making pack from Visitor Reception, (containing card, twine and instructions) and collect fallen autumn leaves on your journey through the garden. Transform your collected leaves into a seasonal mask at home.  

No booking required. Free event, normal admission applies. 

 

Willow Workshops 

Saturday 24 September and Wednesday 28 September, 10am – 12 noon 

Make your very own willow bird feeder to help support the wildlife in your garden this winter. Each session will teach you some basic willow weaving techniques and tips in a casual setting with warming mugs of tea and coffee.  

Price: £18 per person. Book your tickets via www.nationaltrust.org.uk/whats-on.  

 

Walled Garden Talks 

Saturday 24 September and Saturday 1 October, 12pm and 2pm 

Learn about the botanical side of Stourhead, both past and present. The talk lasts for 45 minutes and will include conversations with those working in the garden (subject to gardener availability). The meeting point will be in the lower walled garden.  

No booking required. Free event, normal admission applies.  

 

Fungi Forays 

Thursday 29 September (adult session), 10am – 12pm 

Sunday 2 October (family session), 10am - 12pm 

Fungi Foray sessions will be held in the woodland and grassland around King Alfred’s Tower, near Bruton, Somerset. Lead by a fungi expert, the group will adventure through the Stourhead countryside to pick and identify local fungi. Small containers will be provided.
