A man employed to deliver meals to vulnerable people has been jailed at Swindon Crown Court today after repeatedly sexually abusing a 93-year-old woman.
Frank Greco, 59, of Leighton Avenue, Swindon was sentenced to 20 years, but due to his guilty plea he must serve 14 years and four months in custody with five years and eight months on licence.
Greco is also subject to a sexual harm prevention order, is now classified as a dangerous offender and will be placed on the sex offenders' register.
At an earlier hearing, Greco pleaded guilty to attempted rape, assault by penetration and five counts of sexual assault.
He initially denied wrongdoing but subsequently changed his plea after being presented with incriminating evidence.
Greco’s offending, which took place in March and April 2022, only came to light when the victim’s son raised concerns about footage captured on CCTV cameras that had been installed in the victim’s home as a safety measure.
The matter was immediately referred to Wiltshire Police and subsequent investigations revealed the full extent of his crimes.
Due to the victim’s dementia, she was unable to report the abuse she suffered.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Rachel Hardy said: “These crimes represent the ultimate betrayal of trust, Frank Greco chose to repeatedly target a vulnerable woman in her own home.
"The impact of the offending on the victim and her family has been enormous. It was extremely difficult for her family to learn of the abuse perpetrated by Greco whilst he visited their mother.
“This has been a distressing case for the investigating team to work on. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the family of the victim who have conducted themselves with dignity throughout such a harrowing ordeal.
"Our thoughts are with the victim and her family.”
