GWH has released a statement reminding members of the public of the covid preventative measures they will still have to abide by when visiting.
After yesterday's announcement - 26 January - some covid-19 restrictions have been lifted around the country.
Staff at GWH say it is still important to be aware that safety measures are remaining in place in healthcare settings, including the Great Western Hospital and its GP practices.
This will mean that any patients or visitors attending hospital must continue to wear a face mask and ensure social distancing. Individuals are also being asked to make use of the hand gel provided. GWH staff say this is the best way of keeping visitors, hospital patients and staff safe.
A spokesperson for the hospital said: "We’re also pleased to welcome visitors back into GWH, but it’s important to phone the ward beforehand to ensure it’s still safe to visit.
"Covid-19 is still prevalent in the local community, which means there may be additional infection control measures on a ward or areas closed to visiting. The situation changes day-to-day so if you’re planning a visit you must phone in advance.
"Staying safe never changes."
