This week, GWH has announced it will be making changes to its mask wearing rules across some areas of the hospital.

From yesterday - Wednesday 15 June - staff at GWH have been able to relax guidance surrounding mask wearing.

Masks no longer need to be worn in most areas of the hospital, nor in the GWH's GP surgeries.

However, masks must continue to be worn in areas including the Emergency Department, assessment areas such as the Surgical Assessment Unit, areas with high risk patients (oncology/haemotology) and covid-19 wards.

Masks do not need to be worn when walking around the hospital, in corridors and stairwells, in restaurants or in other clinical and non-clinical areas.

Visitors are encouraged to continue wearing a mask if they wish to, and there are said to be lots available from dispensers around the hospital.
