South Swindon Parish Council has unveiled its new play facilities at GWR Park off Faringdon Road.
The new playground, which replaces the old dilapidated play park, cost £50,000 to build and features state of the art facilities including a train themed climbing frame to fit in with the heritage of the adjacent Railway Village.
Since the parish council was formed in 2018 they have carried out a programme of renovating all of the 19 playgrounds in the area.
The next playgrounds that are getting the revamp treatment are the Cambria Bridge play park and the East Wichel playground.
Parish councillor Neil Hopkins, the chair of the Leisure and Amenities Committee, said: "We are especially pleased with this park. The contractors who did the work for us believe it is the only railway themed play park in the country.
"When we took over as a parish council a lot of the playgrounds were dilapidated and there were definitely some health and safety fears.
"We have managed to create something that will benefit children of all ages and abilities. One of the focusses of all of our parks is to make sure that they are inclusive for everybody including the disabled."
