The Swindon and Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner election count was today - Monday, 10 May - set to go ahead in spite of a candidate being disbarred.
Jonathon Seed, who contested the role on behalf of the Conservative Party, was revealed to have had a driving conviction in the past.
According to Electoral Commission guidance, a conviction for an offence potentially punishable with imprisonment means a person is disbarred from standing for election as a police and crime commissioner.
Mr Seed has said he withdrew from the contest, although his party says he was disbarred.
The count will go ahead as planned, but if Mr Seed, who is also a member of Wiltshire Council, is found to have secured more than half of the first choice votes another PCC election must be held.
