A Swindon school took a sweet approach to the Coronation.

Pupils and staff at Lawn Manor Academy created or brought in their own special cakes to mark the occasion.

Mrs Jones, Design and Technology Technician, came took first place in a cake competition with her coffee & walnut cake.

Mr Koza, Assistant Headteacher and Mrs Smith, Head of Design and Technology, decorated the school’s kitchen in a spectacular showcase of red, white and blue.

Pupils have been allowed to wear red, white and blue to mark the occasion.

The school is part of Ascend Learning Trust, and other schools belonging to the trust held celebrations.

At Noremarsh Junior School in Royal Wootton Bassett, the Year 4s got their artistic juices flowing and created collages, bookmarks and their own Coronation-themed quiz.

The King’s portrait was used to create the collages, with the bookmarks using different designs featuring the crown, Their Majesties and the British flag.

Royal Wootton Bassett Academy got into the spirit of the coronation, using it as a tool for house assemblies about the history behind the Coronation and the timeline of events.

The week ended with students invited to design Coronation-themed items such as bunting and special dishes.

A spokesperson for Ascend Learning Trust said: “Events such as these are a great way to bring our trust together and celebrate.

"We are all very excited for Their Majesties’ Coronation, the schools have had fun creating their own celebrations ahead of the day."
