Forget Me Not Cakes is a scheme run by Live Well Swindon, where volunteers will bake birthday cakes for Swindon’s most vulnerable and isolated residents.

This includes clients of the council's Swindon Circles, care home residents, residents of the Foyer, Wiltshire House and Radnor Lodge – the homeless hostels for young people and Culvery Court, a homeless hostel for adults in Swindon.

The cake pictured above with the fruit on top, was baked for Swindon resdient Gaye.

Helen, her friend, said: "I just have to say how overwhelmed both myself and my friend Gaye were, with her Forget Me Not Cake today!! It was quite emotional and I think she was struggling to understand how kind people are.

"It’s a lovely gesture and please thank whoever made such a lovely job of it. It had a green napkin base and a lovely note too. So thoughtful and I think we really underestimate the impact it has. It tasted amazing too! And her visiting care worker enjoyed it too."

The other cake pictured above -  the victoria sponge with the white chocolate buttons - was baked for a guest of the Foyer, a young person’s homeless hostel in Swindon. It was baked by Forget Me Not Cakes' volunteer, Rachael.

A spokesperson from the Live Well baking organisation said: "We’ve been told by the Foyer that the cakes are always a hit and the residents, who love feeling that someone has made something so special for them on their birthday. The cakes really bring positivity to the house and residents like to share them with their friends."
