Heavy rain overnight left parts of the historic town's centre under water.
London Road, the area to the rear of Waitrose and parts of The Parade were among the most seriously affected locations.
Some 40 people were evacuated from the Town Mill retirement complex building in what firefighters described as a precautionary measure.
In addition to local firefighters, specialist rescuers were drafted in from Stratton and Trowbridge.
Marlborough is among communities across the region to suffer flooding in the aftermath of Storm Henk, which arrived at the beginning of the week.
Residents and people working in the town shared warnings, alerts and advice on social media.
They included the headteacher of St Mary's Primary School, who wrote in a message to parents: "The High Street has been closed due to the rising flood water. To help alleviate traffic problems and transport challenges, you are welcome to pick your children up from 13:20.
"We will of course still be open until 15:15 as normal if you can't get here any earlier!
"Please walk if you can and be careful of flooding near George Lane."
