Swindon Borough Council has promised that the Mead Way improvement project will be completed in November.
The pledge follows the original September deadline being extended first to October.
The £4m project includes the creation of an extra lane northbound from Meads roundabout on Great Western Way to Withymead roundabout, resurfacing Mead Way between the roundabouts and converting the roundabout at the Westmead Drive and Stonehill Green junction to a crossroads with signals and a pedestrian crossing.
In addition, the project includes upgrading lighting and replacing street furniture and a bus shelter.
Work on what was originally scheduled to be a five months of work began in March of last year.
Reasons cited for the delay have included the impact of the covid pandemic and complications involving public utilities.
