The next person to be honoured with a Swindon Heritage blue plaque has been named.
William Morris (1826-1891) joins a list of 11 people and organisations including film star Diana Dors, Swindon war heroes, 19th century nature writer Richard Jefferies, football international Harold Fleming, suffragette Edith New and the pioneering GWR Medical Fund.
Morris, not to be confused with the Victorian artist and textile designer of the same name, founded the Swindon Evening Advertiser in 1854.
He was its owner and editor for 37 years, and is buried at Christ Church in Old Town. Morris was the great grandfather of eminent zoologist, author and broadcaster Desmond Morris.
The plaque honouring him will be unveiled in a ceremony beginning at 10.30am on Saturday, 30 July, at the newspaper's former building in Victoria Road.
The unveiling will be performed by Mike Morris who is a cousin of Desmond Morris.
