The tulip bulbs planted by the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire have bloomed just in time for the Queen's birthday.

The bulbs were planted by the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire back in November, at the Westlea Park area in West Swindon.

Chairman of the association, Mr Gyan Prasad Gurung joined around a dozen of the generation Nepalese youths and some local members of the community to plant the five thousand tulip bulbs.

The planting was completed in two sessions, with South Swindon MP Mr Robert Buckland helping out during the first. The Nepalese Association of Wiltshire organised the flower plantation programme in coordination with Swindon Borough Council.

Red and white tulips were chosen to form a Union Jack-like pattern.
