The Nepalese Association of Wiltshire were joined by hundreds of attendees and some special guests for their Jubilee celebrations in Swindon.
On Friday, 3 June, the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire (NAW) invited the Swindon community to join in with its Jubilee celebrations.
Held at the Buckhurst Community Centre, the NAW held an evening of royal fun for members of the public to attend.
Traditional Nepalese dishes were served with a selection of alcholic beverages and soft drinks. In addition, the popular Nepalese folk singer, Biru Lama, provided entertainment.
The event's programme was formally opened with a bagpipe player, and special guests included Mayor of Swindon Cllr Abdul Amin, Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire Shirley Ludford, and the Nepali Minister of Internal Affairs & Law Province No. 1 Mr Kedar Karki.
The evening also provided the opportunity for the Association to present its newly registered life members with certificates.
Later on, there was a cake cutting ceremony, as well as a beacon for the Queen being lit with a candle by the special guests and the Chairman of the NAW, Mr Gyan Prasad Gurung. After the beacon was lit, a confetti cannon was set off.
Mr Gurung said: "The evening was all about the NAW doing our part to celebrate and congratulate HM the Queen for her remarkable service to her country and her people. It was also to celebrate the Queen reaching the milestone of 70 years on the throne, becoming the longest reigning monarch in the history. It was magnificent."
The NAW had also planted 5,000 tulip bulbs ahead of the Jubilee, to have them bloom in time for June. The NAW chose red and white bulbs to form a British cross pattern.
