Swindon Borough Council have issued an update following flooding in Perry's lane, Wroughton.
Construction and garden waste were recently cleared from the culvert carrying the stream under Perry’s Lane.
The blockage led to a water build-up that flooded the road earlier this month.
A council spokesperson said: "Tree roots may also need to be removed from the culvert, which is 29 metres in length and is close to a number of private culverts in the gardens of adjacent residential properties both upstream and downstream of Perry’s Lane.
"Installing a sloping screen to lift debris out of the stream is challenging due to the limited space and a 90-degree bend in the waterway. We’ll be investigating whether this solution is feasible to mitigate the future risk of flooding.
"We wrote to local residents directly affected by the flooding earlier this week to confirm we will be investigating the cost and feasibility of different options to prevent the culvert being blocked, taking into account the advice of the Environment Agency."
