A man who threatened to kill two police officers while they were on a bicycle patrol in Swindon has been jailed.
Neighbourhood policing officers PC Huntington and PC Hawkins were on their second day of bike patrols covering the Railway Village, Kingshill and Rushy Platt, when they found a man smoking cannabis on a bench in Faringdon Park.
He was detained under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and identified himself as Joshua Warren, 27.
Warren became verbally abusive to the officers, who searched him and found a package of cannabis.
The abuse continued with Warren making threats to kill and behead the two officers, and he was arrested for the public order offence, possession of a controlled drug and threats to kill.
Warren, who has 13 previous convictions, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to charges relating to public order and the possession of cannabis.
He was sentenced to 14 weeks' imprisonment.
PC Huntington said: "Joshua Warren is a prolific offender who continues to cause harm in the local community so I am pleased he will spend time behind bars.
"This type of behaviour is unacceptable and we will take robust action against people who exhibit it.
