Over 40 children and their parents attended the official festive opening of the Purton Community Uniform Recycling Shop this weekend.

Father Christmas officially opened the uniform recycling shop at the Purton Village Hall, where it is based within a dressing room.

There was a ribbon-cutting, and all the children in attendance were given a small gift bag to take home.

During the course of the morning over 100 items of clothing were taken for free, plus childrens toys and toiletries.

The team behind the uniform recycling scheme carried out some rough calculations and estimate that they have saved families in Purton over £3,000 since the project started.

A spokesperson for the team added: "A big thank you needs to go out to Charlotte Young and Jacqueline Littler  for all their hard work in setting up the project, and to Purton Parish Council for allowing us to use the village hall rooms free of charge and for funding the cost of the rails and a steamer."
