National housebuilder Redrow has announced the winner of its Recreate Redrow house design competition.
15-year-old Jake Rendell from Corsham is the proud winner of Recreate Redrow.
Recreate Redrow - which ran throughout the summer holidays - saw a range of entries from competitors varying in ages, tasked to digitally recreate a Redrow home or development through building simulator games such as Minecraft, The Sims and Roblox.
Winners of the competition were split into three categories based on the age of the competitor (primary school, secondary school, and open 17+).
Jake is the proud winner of the secondary school category for his design of Redrow house types including The Stratford, Welwyn, Marlborough, Oxford and more, of which he created using life-simulation Roblox game 'Welcome to Bloxburg.'
Jake said he was inspired to enter the competition after he watched YouTube influencer More Clare Siobhan’s video promoting her ‘Recreate Redrow’ design.
As a firm fan of designing Roblox houses, he realised he wanted to take up the challenge.
Jake’s recreation of the Redrow house types took just under two weeks to complete, and the Redrow team believe his entry perfectly represented his exceptional craftsman skills.
When asked about his win, Jake said: “I remember opening my emails after school and finding out that I had won. I was really excited about it as I have never really won anything before. I had to run in and tell my mum and sister immediately.
“I haven’t ever won any other gaming awards; this was the first one I entered and I really enjoyed it.”
As part of the Jake’s winning prize, Redrow have offered Jake work experience to provide him with insight to the industry that interests him so much.
Jake added: “I am really excited ahead of my work experience as I have the opportunity to learn new things in design, and it will help me with getting ahead in
a career in either architecture or interior design.
Area sales manager Charlotte Newnes said: “We are so proud of the talented Jake and it is amazing for us to have a winner in the South West region.
“We are more than excited to see where the future will take Jake and we hope our work experience offer will help him hone his skills and interests.”
