Council encourage public to support others by volunteering with Citizens Advice Swindon

Swindon Borough Council are looking for willing volunteers to join the Citizens Advice Swindon team.

Citizens Advice Swindon help around 150 people in Swindon every week with free, independent and confidential advice.

But demand for their service is said to be increasing due to the current cost of living crisis, so they need more volunteers from all backgrounds to support other residents.

Those interested that can offer a minimum of six hours per week, are being invited to attend a drop-in event at the Citizens Advice office in Cavendish Square on Wednesday 22 June.

The event will run from 10am - 1pm and attendees will be given the chance to learn more about what is involved.

Claire Newport, Chief Executive at Citizens Advice Swindon, said: “Our brilliant volunteers are the heart of our service - the work we do to support people in the community simply would not be possible without them. Now more than ever we need more volunteers to help us provide the vital support needed by Swindon residents.

“As a volunteer, you’ll learn about a range of issues affecting local people, like debt, housing, benefits, immigration and employment. We provide all the training and support you’ll need to work with us to help people solve their problems."
