Swindon Borough Council has announced the completion of the Coate Water diving board refurbishments.

To round off #LoveParksWeek (which took place over the course of last week), the council says it is great to see that the refurbishment of the Coate Water diving board is complete.

Initially scheduled to last 12 weeks, the refurbishment has finished three weeks early.

The council says this early completion is due to the great work from its contractors.

The work that took place included a full environmental clean, and the walls to the lower level have been removed. Minor repairs were also made to the concrete structure where needed and security grilles have been installed to prevent access to the upper levels.

The diving board itself has been repainted and the flag pole, which sits atop the Listed structure, has been replaced.

This is said to be just one of a number of improvements coming to Coate Water following the council's Parks Improvement Plan that over 1,000 residents commented on.

Already, a new Garden of Reflection has been created at the side of the lake and work is progressing on bringing a new fully-accessible play area to the park.
